The Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC-Downtown Ofaakor) has commenced its 2020 Christmas Convention under the theme, “Behold, the King of Glory is Born,” based on Matthew 1:21-23.
Speaking on Day-1 of the convention, on the topic, “The King of Glory; (who is the King of Glory)” the Resident Minister, Pastor Isaac Annor, explained that Jesus is the true Son of God and His name Immanuel, which is translated “God with us,” indicates that God became flesh and dwelt among men.
He added that “it has always been the intention of God to dwell with man, however, due to the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, a gap was created between man and God, but God sent His Son, Jesus, to bridge that gap so that God could dwell with man once again.”
Reading from Psalm 24 and Isaiah 7:14, Pastor Annor indicated that the authenticity of Christ is proven in the divinity of His birth. “Many prophesies were told about the birth of Christ long before He was born and each prophesy bears a promise of deliverance and salvation from sin and death,” he reiterated.
He, therefore, posited that “the birth of Christ is very special and significant to us as believers because, through the birth of Christ, we have been reconciled to God, our sins have been blotted out and there is no condemnation for us who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:5-7, Romans 8:1)
Pastor Annor further expounded that “Christ has not only redeemed us from the law of sin and death but has also destroyed the works of the devil and broken his hold on us. We are no longer slaves to sin, we are now heirs together with Christ, who is the Lion of the tribe of Judah.”
“Jesus was able to redeem mankind because he overcame sin and death, by living a life without spot or wrinkle, therefore, he became the King of Glory and has restored us to that glorious status, which was lost in the Garden of Eden,” he revealed.
He, therefore, advised that “Christmas is a moment to ponder over the love of God for sending His Son to save mankind and also to replicate that love to others, and to share the good news of the birth of the Saviour.”
The ongoing convention, which began on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, will end on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
